OmegaFlex Open Ring vs. FirmTech Performance Ring: An Honest Comparison

Written by Hayes Smith

Published October 9, 2026 · OmegaFlex editorial

The disclosure first: we make the OmegaFlex Open Ring, so read this with that in mind. Every claim about FirmTech below comes from FirmTech's own website (myfirmtech.com, checked October 9, 2026). Where FirmTech does something we don't, we say so plainly.

The short version: these are two different ideas of what an ED ring should be. FirmTech makes adjustable loops that go around the testicles and the base of the penis, plus a sensor ring that tracks your erections through an app. OmegaFlex makes one thing, an open, curved ring that sits at the base and comes off by spreading its arms. Which one suits you depends on what you want the ring to do.

FirmTech's Performance Ring, MaxPR and TechRing pages all showed "Sold out" when we checked. That may well have changed by the time you read this.

The FirmTech Lineup, Briefly

FirmTech sells three rings, and people searching for "FirmTech" usually mean one of them:

  • Performance Ring ($60). The adjustable loop most people picture. It goes around the testicles and the base of the penis and latches onto a hook.
  • MaxPR ($60). The same idea, which FirmTech calls its "tightest ring," with no tech features. Its page gives a shorter wear limit: up to 90 minutes.
  • TechRing ($275). A ring with built-in sensors that connects to your phone by Bluetooth and tracks nocturnal erections and sexual performance. It's meant to be worn overnight as well as during sex.

Where FirmTech Is Genuinely Strong

  • Erection tracking. Nobody else in this comparison has anything like the TechRing. If you want data on your nighttime erections to watch trends or bring to a doctor, that's what it's built for, and we don't make an equivalent.
  • Adjustable tension. You can tighten a FirmTech ring by pulling it further through the hook or adding a twist. OmegaFlex gives you two fixed sizes instead.
  • HSA/FSA eligibility. FirmTech advertises its rings as eligible, which can lower the real cost if you have one of those accounts.

Where the OmegaFlex Is Strong

  • Price per ring. $38.99 gets you two rings, a Major and a Minor. A FirmTech Performance Ring is $60 for one.
  • Sizing without guessing. FirmTech sells one size, rated up to 5.5 inches of erect girth. OmegaFlex puts both sizes in every box, so you try them and keep using the one that fits.
  • It stays off the testicles. The OmegaFlex sits at the base of the penis only. Some men like the extra hold of a ring that loops around the testicles; others find it uncomfortable. If you're in the second group, this is the simpler choice.
  • Removal without a clasp. There's no hook to find. You spread the curved arms and the ring lifts away, at any stage of arousal, which matters most in exactly the moments you'd want it off quickly.
  • Open design. The ring doesn't close into a full circle. The open gap is designed to keep pressure off the urethra (the tube semen travels through), so climax isn't pinched.
  • Made in the USA, two US utility patents on the open, curved design.

The Wear-Time Difference

This is the biggest gap between the two companies' instructions, so it's worth being clear about. FirmTech's Performance Ring page says it "can be worn safely for 12 hours," and its instructions say to loosen or untwist it before sleep. We tell OmegaFlex owners no more than 30 minutes at a time. That's the same limit Eddie by Giddy publishes for its device, and it's the conservative rule for any ring that holds blood in the penis.

Whatever ring you own, follow its instructions, and take it off right away if you feel pain or numbness or notice any change in skin color.

Safety, the Same for Both

Constriction rings aren't suitable if you have a clotting disorder, take blood thinners or anticoagulants, or have Peyronie's disease, a history of priapism, or a penile implant. Neither ring treats the cause of erectile dysfunction. They help hold firmness, and that's all. If ED is persistent or getting worse, it's worth a real conversation with a doctor. Full guidance is in our penis ring safety guide.

Which Should You Choose?

  • Choose FirmTech if you want erection tracking (the TechRing), you like adjustable tension, you're comfortable with a ring that goes around the testicles, or HSA/FSA payment matters to you.
  • Choose the OmegaFlex if you want a ring that sits at the base only, comes off without a clasp, and includes two sizes so you don't have to guess, at $38.99 for both.

Both companies give you 30 days to change your mind. That's the right policy for any ring, because bodies differ and the only real test is trying one.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the main difference between the two?

FirmTech's Performance Ring is an adjustable loop that goes around the testicles and the base of the penis and fastens with a hook. The OmegaFlex is one curved piece with an open gap that sits at the base and comes off by spreading the arms. FirmTech is $60 for one ring in one size; OmegaFlex is $38.99 for two rings in two sizes.

Does OmegaFlex make a tracking ring like the TechRing?

No. If you want erection data from a phone app, the TechRing is the product built for that.

How long can I wear each one?

We say 30 minutes at a time for the OmegaFlex. FirmTech's pages say 12 hours for the Performance Ring and up to 90 minutes for the MaxPR. Follow the instructions for the ring you own, and take it off at the first sign of pain, numbness or color change.

Can either ring cure ED?

No. Both help hold an erection; neither treats the underlying cause. Persistent ED is worth a conversation with a doctor.
